Start by right clicking on the tab that you want to use for the new file and click “Move or Copy….”
A window will appear, and you want to click on the dropdown arrow and select “(new book)”. Then check the box for “Create a copy” and then you click “OK”. The window should look like the version on the right if everything is selected correctly.
You should see that the name of the file at the top of Excel will now be different and there will only be one tab for the spreadsheet at this point.
The new file may also have a button to edit links now. This is because the new file is still linked to the original file. This link can be broken by clicking on “Edit Links”
Once you click “Edit Links” you will see the source link highlighted in blue. Click on “Break Link”. There will be another pop up to confirm that you want to break the link. Click on “Break Links” again and close the window
At this point, the file is ready to be saved to the appropriate location. Click on File >> Save.
The option to browse will now be available and this will open the file explorer for you to pick where you want to save the file.
Enter the file name that you want to use for your new file and select the folder where this should be saved.
